For our PIXELS competition, members can submit an image to the theme which is then judged externally where a gold, silver or bronze can be awarded. At the end of the year, the overall winner is announced.
Month | Theme | Theme Definition |
---|---|---|
January | Nudibranch Art | The subject must be a nudibranch, but the image can be whole or part of the animal. The image is to incorporate artistic elements, which may include creative lighting, different compositions or any other technique. |
March | Mono | The image is to be one colour, which can include both black and white or a single colour. The image may be macro or wide angle and of any subject. The image must be taken underwater, but not in an aquarium. |
May | Sexy Times | The subject of the image is to display any type of mating or sexual behaviour. This may include animals copulating/spawning, eggs (with or without the parent or adult), or any other type of mating display. |
July | Habitats | The image is to showcase an underwater habitat. An animal can feature in this image but the habitat must compose over 50% of the image. |
September | The Eyes Have It | The primary subject must be an animal’s eye/s. The eyes must be a dominant feature in the image and draw the viewer’s attention, even if they take up a relatively small portion of the frame. |
November | Open | Any image that has been taken underwater, but not including in an aquarium, is allowed. |
